History

1997
The history of tattooing and body piercing at the corner of Klimentská and Revoluční streets dates back to 1997. Here, in the premises of the former Mother&Fucker skateshop, the Tribo studio utilizes a spare room where the owner of Tribo, Michal Burda, performs the first piercings, while the tattoo artist Tarlio executes the first tattoo.

Tribo, which until then had its main headquarters in Slovenská Street within the iconic Joshua Hair Salon, subsequently becomes independent in Klimentská in 2000. Operating solely under its own name, a fully-fledged tattoo, piercing, and hairdressing salon is established here. In the same year, Punky joins Tribo, where under the guidance of co-owner Jarda Králíček, he transitions from an enthusiastic amateur to a professional piercer.

In 2015, Tribo bids farewell to hairdressers, and in their place, booths for additional tattoo artists are established.

In 2024, Michal and Jarda hand over the space in Klimentská to Punky, who, along with his longtime friend Sigi, founds the Root Down studio. Together, they embark on writing another chapter in the local genius loci.

Through the doors of the studio on Klimentská Street, over the years, a variety of renowned and lesser-known tattoo artists from both the Czech and international scenes have passed. They've tattooed liters of ink and left behind swathes of tattooed skin

Alongside the local piercers and their tens of thousands of procedures performed here, they have reinforced the significance of this place within the realm of tattooing and body piercing art.
